Level E X-ray Course

Target Audience: Staff carrying out the approved screening methods, including X-ray (i.e. X-ray Operators, staff designated to hand search cargo, etc.).

Initial Training: 27 hours (3 days)

Initial Training Cost: £330.00* per person on one of our scheduled courses, or £1,500.00** for a maximum of 5 people (DfT requirement) trained at your own location using your X-ray screening equipment, plus £65.00 per person for the NXCT test (see below)

TREFOX – Training Essentials for X-ray

SIMFOX – Threat Image Processor & Training / Testing Simulator for X-ray

Evaluation Test

Following completion of this course, trainees must be given an opportunity to practice these skills during on-the-job training.  In the present context, on-the-job training refers to supervised or ‘mentored’ training conducted in the actual working environment. 

It is recommended that cargo trainees receive at least 10 hours of on-the-job training on the x-ray screening task before beginning unsupervised work.  This should be well structured and, as with the classroom training, should also have clearly defined aims and objectives. 

Those individuals who are supervising this training shall themselves have completed formal training, particularly in the use of X-ray screening equipment.

NXCT – (National X-ray Competency Test). This test is taken after on-the-job training is completed and will be charged at £65.00 per person.  The NXCT test is required every 13 months.

Recurrent Training: Required every 2 years for 18 hours (awaiting DfT confirmation).  The NXCT test is included

Recurrent Training Cost: £220.00* per person on one of our scheduled courses, or £1,000.00** for a maximum of 5 people (DfT requirement) trained at your own location using your X-ray screening equipment.  The NXCT test is included in these prices.
